Shopping on Fillmore Street

If you shop in Pacific Heights, of course you go to Fillmore. In just a short stretch of blocks, you can find lots of cute shops, both unique to SF and some brand names.

Kiehl's, of course, where you can find all your skin and body needs. They are also always generous with samples - I have found several essential products that way.

Elizabeth Charles is a fantastic shop that carries mostly little-known Australian designers - I long to buy a gorgeous dress there for a fancy event!

Jonathan Adler is my favorite home store - everything in there is so lively and fun - witness the pictures below and the mantra "decorate like a duchess" - indeed!

Of course Marc by Marc Jacobs is a stand-by on Fillmore St. I am absolutely addicted to Marc's bags, shoes, and clothes. Not to mention their creative window displays!

Heidi Says and outpost Heidi Says Shoes are great boutiques to hit, with familiar high-end lines and the shoe store also carries delicious bags (both have great customer service, I can attest).

And lastly, a little shop called Nest, that I always stop into. It's eclectic mix of housewares, books, and children's items are always calling my name when I walk by.

The September Issue

For those who have yet to see it, and for those that have seen it and loved it as much as I did, I must profess that "The September Issue" is the best documentary I have seen in a long
time!

Chronicling the making of the September 2 007 issue of Vogue magazine, and the work and lives of its editors, including the infamous Anna Wintour, this movie enthralled me with the drama and of course the fashion. While I also enjoyed "The Devil Wears Prada" which was reportedly based on Wintour and Vogue, the comparisons stop there. "The September Issue" is more about the business of fashion and the magazine itself, not just about the catty personalities and competition between the editors (although you get enough of that too!).

Grace Coddington, second in command to Wintour, steals the show, being responsible for many of the main features for the issue and dealing with Wintour's opinions and editing leading up to the publishing of the magazine. I was inspired by the dedication and zest with which these women and men put together the features for the magazine, and discuss why they do what they do. And of course within each scene of the film, are fabulous clothing and accessories that left me breathless.

Shop where you live...

For my inaugural posting, I thought it only fitting to showcase some of my favorite boutiques to shop in San Francisco. I can only say "shop where you live", and for that I have to begin in North Beach - first hood I ever lived in, what a great place to start.
2 faves to share: ooma, once owned by the fabulous Kate Logan, has continued its tradition of fun, flirty clothes and accessories. I love to stop in and see what's new. I have bought many a cute dress here!

Second, I stop off at AB fits, home of a fantastic up and coming collection of denim along with other current designers, some hard to find. One of my favorite things about AB fits is the service - they hire people that have a knack for what will fit. On a recent visit, I found THE leather jacket I have been searching for - just the right combination of tough and cute, with an adorable hood!

Gold star for Lola, my tip-top favorite place to buy cards (another obsession). Lola carries THE assortment of hip and fun lines of cards, I absolutely cannot go by without going in and cannot go in without buying something fun. It's always handy to have cards stocked up!

Russian Hill - on to my current home sweet home. Anica is the go-to spot. Not only does she carry unique finds and sophisticated lines, she has vintage! The items in the window always make me want to stop in...
