Not Really a Belt Girl...

Friends, as hard as I try and as many cute belts as there are out there, I am just not a belt girl. It's sad because its a fantastic and flattering accessory for many an outfit. I have just always found them constricting and at times, too preppy for me. However, in light of recent purchases, I have actually found 2 glorious belts that DO make the cut! Check them out...

The first is this adjustable black belt with a cute shell clasp. It reminds of similar belts I had in the 80s that I wore over long tops and leggings... oh wait, I wear that now too! The fact that it's adjustable is really the win - not only was it easier to find my size when I bought it (at the fun store candystore collective on 16th St. in the Mission), but I can also flex between wearing it at my waist or with jeans.

The second is this bold color-blocked belt by Rachel Comey that adds a punch to every outfit that I wear it with. I love the mixed textures of the patent and canvas too. I found it at my favorite Polk St. boutique, Anica.

Oscar Fabulous

While this year's Oscars were dampened for me by missing my friend's 10th annual most-fabulous Oscar party ever to go to NYC on business, I did cushion the blow by celebrating with room service and champagne in my hotel room. And I set my Tivo to record the red carpet, as to not miss any of the fashion of the evening. And it did NOT disappoint!
My favorites were: SJP in gorgeous vintage Chanel couture, Elizabeth Banks in Versace, Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab.

My least favorites were (also known as what were you thinking...): Charlize Theron in Dior, Zoe Saldana in Givenchy.

Honorable mentions to Meryl Streep (very classy) and Kate Winslet (so architectural). So another Oscar season comes to a close... I am glad that the underdog "The Hurt Locker" won best picture and was recognized for so many other awards. And my personal favorite, "Up" took home Best Animated Movie!
