Denim: The Foundation of My Wardrobe

Is it just me, or does everyone wear jeans more and more as a part of their everyday wardrobe??  It's true, I do work in a very casual environment, but I find myself wearing jeans at least 4-5 days a week (if not more), at work and on the weekends.  In fact, I find that when I buy other non-denim pants, I end up not even wearing them much and always going back to my favorite jeans.  With that, I was inspired by a new denim feature on net-a-porter called denimania.  This fascinating feature covers top denim moments in history, outfitting looks, trend inspiration, the history of denim and glossary of terms and fits, brands that are doing denim best, and much more.
My favorite moment in denim history that they covered: Jennifer Grey in "Dirty Dancing"!  I loved that movie growing up, even though I wasn't allowed to watch it when it first came out (scandalous themes...).  Who can forget her little denim shorts as she dances her way into Patrick Swayze's arms?!  And I love the feature about J Brand's crop skinny jeans - my own personal favorite skinny jean, that I own 3 pairs of!

Color Explosion

I must have color on the brain this week... yesterday I was all about blush pink, today I can't stop looking at J Crew's new feature about color combos.  Their inspiring outfits make me want to mix and match every color I can find.  They are highlighting that same blush (makeup tones) pink that I love, as well as unique shades of yellow, orange, and green, all with some shine mixed in.  And that lavender bag!!  I can't stop myself from dreaming about how I must have it.

Blushing

My favorite color this spring is the most beautiful shade of blush pink.  And I am definitely not a "pink" girl... it's never been my color.  But when I see all the gorgeousness out there in blush pink, I just can't resist.  This group of runway looks says it all.

I Heart Loeffler Randall

Loeffler Randall continues to be my shoe obsession.  From the first time I bought those suede and metallic slingbacks 3 years ago, to the new suede perforated pump I bought today (pictured below), I have loved them.  Not to mention the flat boots (also pictured below) that I wear at least twice a week, and the adorable ruffle sandals from last summer that have inspired many brands to pick up that trend.  Thankfully LR launched their own site not too long ago, for those of us that just can't get enough.  In addition, some of my favorite sites (shopbop, net-a-porter, twentythirtyforty.net) and stores (gimme shoes in SF) carry a lovely selection of their shoes.

A Great Read

I just read a fantastic book about fashion that I must share.  "Deluxe: How Luxury Lost its Luster", by Dana Thomas, is a riveting book about all facets of the luxury industry.  From the history of big brands like Louis Vuitton and Chanel, to the counterfeiting industry in Asia, to flower fields in France that fuel the perfume industry, to celebrity stylists (one of my favorite chapters)... this book has it all and was fascinating from start to finish!  Check it out!

Super Cool New Find: La Boutique

After a tip from Daily Candy this week, I stopped into the new store, La Boutique, tucked away in Jackson Square, on my way home from work.  What a fabulous find!  La Boutique carries all European lines, most that I had never heard of.  The store owner was kind to tell me all about them and help with different sizing.  I found 3 lovely pieces: a red sheer tee from Zadig and Voltaire, a white applique butterfly top from Aleksandra Wisniewska, and a blush pink (my favorite new spring color) ruffle cardi from Baumund Pferdgarten.  Some of these brands are unique to San Francisco, some unique to the USA!  I loved it, and will definitely be back!
