Can't Get Enough - Gold Necklaces

Getting dressed each day is starting to have a theme: after I pick out my outfit, I reach for the first accessory I think of, a gold necklace.  I have accumulated them over the years from everywhere, new and vintage, long and short, beaded and bejeweled.  And now with the trend of layering necklaces together, I can mix them in so many ways.  Here are a few of my favorites.

A collection of vintage chains from the Alameda Antiques Fair - if you haven't been, its a must for anyone that likes flea markets or antiques.  Hours of wandering and lots of great finds.  These necklaces are great for layering - I always wear a few at a time!

This necklace features a really beautiful charm - an antique key.  I often get asked, "What's the key to?"  That's my secret...

Two new favorites - the necklace on the left is from Madewell, a great combination of tough chains with glittery rhinestones.  The one on the right was a Christmas gift from J. Crew - lots of dangly gold pieces, and it can be worn long or short.  Gorgeous!

New Trend: Watercolor Prints

I keep seeing watercolor prints as I am shopping this month.  I myself have bought 2 dresses with this look already (McGinn at Anthropologie and Richard Chai from Barneys Co-op), and now it seems they are everywhere!  Just last week I saw beautiful examples at J. Crew and by Doo.Ri at local boutique My Sister's Closet.  It's a gorgeous new way to do prints and florals!

Palm Springs Inspiration

Last weekend's trip to Palm Springs brought lots of time by the pool to beat the heat, but also some great inspiration from the local vibe of bright colors and chic style.  Of course we went to Trina Turk, the inventor of poolside style and the iconic prints that have made her unique.  Her store on Palm Canyon Drive is exquisite.  My friend found a gorgeous wrap dress there, while I could not take my eyes away from the adorable swim and colorful jewelry.

We also had dinner at a local fave, Jakes.  Recommended to me by a true Palm Springs expert, we loved the indoor/outdoor decor at Jakes, as well as the food.  Ivy-covered walls and white tables gave this restaurant simple sophistication.  And because it was restaurant week, we got a delicious deal!

Hot on my list is the Parker Hotel.  Interior design by Jonathan Adler (a personal fave), every inch of it seems to express Palm Springs at its finest.  While we did not have time to go there on this trip, these images say it all... (I MUST stay there next time!)
