March Reflections

As March draws to a close this week, I can't help but think how quickly it's gone and about some of the most wonderful moments.  I am kicking off this new idea (hope you like it) of reflecting a bit about each month as it passes.  I keep having this feeling that time goes by so fast, so this feels like a great way to remember the best of each month.

Here are some of my favorite moments, in no particular order.
1) A fun girls sleepover and bridal shower with some of my fave SF ladies.  A good friend who recently moved to NYC is getting married and we celebrated her with a girly girl sleepover.

2) A fun and fabulous blogger even at Kate Spade, which resulted in some gorgeous new shoes.  It was great as always to connect with some local bloggers, shop, and drink some bubbly!

3) I had a weekend away in Tahoe, and experienced a lot of snow!  It reminded me why I don't live in weather like that all the time... it was a great time though!  I traveled with my favorite yellow weekend bag, below.

4) I spent a lot of time volunteering with the Princess Project this month, at our annual giveaway events.  What an amazing experience!  See my full post on that fabulous cause here

And so it's on to April, which I hope will bring some spring weather.  San Francisco is way overdue!

Cool Collaboration: Rodarte for Opening Ceremony

I am loving the new Rodarte for Opening Ceremony line - what goes better together than 2 super cool designers, and I am always into the fresh ideas that OC brings to the scene.  From working with Chloe Sevigny or opening a quirky boutique in NYC's Ace Hotel, they are keeping it new and interesting all the time.  I also love these images from the Rodarte for OC lookbook - unique and inventive, and I'm not just talking about the clothes.

I can't help but love some of these pieces - the olive leather jacket in the third pic above and the layered dress in the last pic are absolutely my faves.  See the full collection here.

Loves from the Saks Catalog

This weekend, I finally got through a heap of magazines and catalogs that have come in the last few weeks, and I was completely enthralled with all the fabulous looks in the new spring Saks Fifth Ave. catalog!  I haven't shopped too much at Saks in the past, so consider me converted, their catalog really blew me away.  Here are some of my favorite looks (a.k.a. my shopping list).

New Obsession: Chan Luu Bracelets

I recently bought a Chan Luu wrap bracelet at Banana Republic, as a part of the capsule collection that the designer did with them.  And since that day, I basically haven't taken it off.  I find that this bracelet is the perfect accessory to go with any outfit, and is easily mixed with other bracelets as well.  My bracelet is a beautiful tan leather, mixed with gold beads and clear and topaz crystals.  Chan Luu's regular collection is even more gorgeous, and is not only bracelets but also lots of other jewelry, as well as scarves and a small clothing line.

A Banana Republic bracelet similar to the one I am wearing as I am writing this.

A great shot from Garnet Hill of a few Chan Luu bracelets, love the colors!

On the Chan Luu website, they also have some beautifully styled looks with both the Spring and Fall 2011 collections.  I love the look of layering a few of their bracelets, and their scarves are really great too.  They also have an amazing blog with great styling tips, insights into the company, and celebrity sightings wearing their line.  I have become such a fan of this designer and their jewelry!

Friday's Favorite Look 3.25

For today's look, I once again thought of Elizabeth Taylor.  Even though I already wrote a tribute post earlier this week, I couldn't help but love this picture.  I like the fact that it's candid vs. posed, and that she looks completely stylish despite the fact that she is wearing only a robe and slippers.  Only a true style icon can do that.  You can see from the devilish look in her eye, that spirit that she always had throughout her life.   Farewell, Ms. Liz!

NYC in Legos

I saw this yesterday on Refinery 29 and could not help posting it!  New York Times illustrator Christoph Niemann created the below homage to NY while cooped up in a Berlin hotel room with his children.  I can't help but think about some of my favorite NYC landmarks and what they would look like in Lego form!

In Memoriam: Elizabeth Taylor

Today a great film icon passed away - Elizabeth Taylor.  Not only did Elizabeth star in 54 movies and win 2 Oscars, she also became well known in her later years for being a champion of AIDS advocacy.  And let's not forget her 8 marriages!  The lady knew how to catch a man, that's for sure.  In films like Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, National Velvet, A Place in the Sun, and let's not forget Cleopatra, Elizabeth showed glam and grace, and established herself as one of Hollywood's most well-known and revered stars.  Here are some pictures that I think speak the most about Ms. Taylor and what an icon she truly was.  She will absolutely be missed.

The New Rue!

For anyone that hasn't seen Rue Magazine before, you are way overdue in checking it out!  The most recent issue, the magazine's 4th, is better than ever.  In fact, it was so hard to choose which feature I wanted to write about, I had to pick two.  The first is a gorgeous feature on blogger Bailey McCarthy (of Peppermint Bliss) and her beautifully decorated Chicago home.  From the front door to the green sofa to the clean kitchen, I couldn't get enough.  I mean, the chandeliers alone were enough!  And then, there was a Louis Vuitton trunk as a coffee table!  Oh yeah, and did I mention there was a fabulous walk-in closet too??  Even though I do have one of my very own, I had to stop and appreciate how amazing it was.

The second feature is about fabric designer and interior decorator Bonnee Sharp.  Of course a woman whose business is all about print and pattern would have a home full of just that, with amazing style to boot.  As someone that loves wearing and decorating with prints, I was thrilled to see these images.

I could go and on, this Rue issue is chock full of great stories and features, images that I wish I took and had in my house or life!  Check it out today and enjoy!

Orange Crush

It is well-known by those who know me best that my favorite color is orange.  Not only do I love wearing it, but my bedroom is painted orange, I went to a college that has orange as its official color, and I live in a city with an orange bridge!  Yeah, I like it a little.  It just seems to follow me wherever I go.  So recently I was inspired to pull together some lovelies in this fine color.

First this gorgeous pale orange dress that I saw on Etsy.  I love it mixed with a bold black belt.

Cute orange flats on Anthropologie.  It's always great to add a pop of color!

I saw this great outfit on Pinterest.  The orange jacket makes this outfit so much brighter.

This hot orange dress from J.Crew will be perfect for any vacations I take this summer!

I could go on and on, there are so many great orange styles out there this spring.  On a personal note, to share my love at home for orange, here is a peek at my room!
