Cape Debut

Hope that everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend!  Instead of shopping on Black Friday, I spent my day wine tasting with my boyfriend and our parents in Sonoma.  We started off with a champagne tasting and tour at Gloria Ferrer (my favorite) and then also visited a few more wineries in the area and downtown Sonoma.

Many of you know that I was very excited about the recent purchase of a Theory cape, at the Shop for the Cure event a few weeks ago.  The crisp fall weather on Friday was the perfect occasion to wear my new cape, and this week is really the first time I have worn it!  Here are a few pictures:

Happy Thanksgiving!

One of my favorite Thanksgiving memories is watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade while cooking with my mom.  This tradition never gets old, even after years of seeing some of the same floats and lots of marching bands.  I loved finding these vintage pictures of the parade on Pinterest this week - it's incredible to think that this parade has been going on for over 80 years!

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving with family and friends!  Gobble Gobble!  (And watch the parade - you'll love it!)

New Boots!

Even though I live in a warmer climate, I had to have some new winter boots from Sorel.  These stylish outdoor boots were on the rise last winter, especially when I went to Sundance, and I have been thinking about getting a pair ever since.  I went for the classic "Joan of Arctic" style in hawk brown - I can't wait to wear them on snowy trips to Tahoe and up to Park City.

Above, my celeb inspiration and the boots I bought.  Can't wait to wear them!

Kate Spade Gift Guide: My Picks!

As always, Kate Spade is one of my gifting go-to's... both for me and for others.  And their gift guide this year does not disappoint!  Not only is the online gift guide interactive and fun, it has so many great gift ideas for everyone on your list (and some for yourself).  Here are my favorite picks:

I love these barrettes to make any going-out outfit even more sparkly!   Great gift for friends or moms.

How fun are these coasters for parties??

Best eyemask ever!  My friend who loves the Beastie Boys would love this.

The perfect mittens for hailing a cab on a cold night in NYC.

A hat to keep my ears warm at Sundance... with shades like all the celebs.

An upgrade to my thermos, which I carry every day for my coffee.  I highly recommend this to anyone!

To be honest, I haven't done much holiday shopping yet.  I am more of a December shopper, once I have some ideas and get more in the holiday spirit.  What about you - have you started yet??

NYC Shopping: Marimekko

While shopping on a rainy day in NYC last week, I stumbled upon the new Marimekko store.  It turned into a major bright spot in an otherwise dreary day (weather-wise anyway).  This store is chock-full of stunning prints in every fabric you can imagine, and in every part of your home or lifestyle that they can offer.  I could instantly see how I could have beautiful Marimekko prints in my kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, and of course wardrobe.

The living room display when you enter the store, complete with vintage pictures of the Marimekko founders.

The bedroom display, with the most comfortable beanbags.  I loved all the hanging fabrics here.

Bolts and bolts of fabric, where you can choose your own and custom-make anything.

A selection of the beautiful clothing at the store.

The amazing kitchen display - I loved the stark modern aesthetic with all that fun color!

You know the kids that have this room are having fun!

One of my favorite items in the store - the bath towels... I can't wait to add these in when we re-do our bathroom.

I highly encourage anyone living or visiting NYC to check out this store.  It's tough to not have fun there and be bitten by the color bug...

Golden Girl

I love this look on Katie Holmes - beautiful gold top with white silk pants, both from Lanvin.  With the holidays fast approaching, I am definitely feeling the more sparkly looks... I just bought a great gold cardi from Madewell that dresses up even the most casual top and jeans.

Friday's Favorite Look 11.4

Today's favorite look was a no-brainer for me - Tuesday is the 50th anniversary of my favorite movie of all time, Breakfast at Tiffany's.  I have been reading about the upcoming anniversary for a while now, and so it was top of mind when choosing today's look.  Who can forget this iconic LBD on Audrey Hepburn, having her breakfast outside of Tiffany's in NYC.  The original dress was designed by Hubert deGivenchy, and was sold at auction in 2006.   I also had this picture in poster form, hanging in my bedroom for almost 14 years - it always made me smile when I had the "mean reds", and reminded me of my favorite film.

Latest Madewell Loves

I know, I talk all the time about how I love Madewell, and how happy I am that they now have a San Francisco store.  But I couldn't resist sharing my latest picks with you after shopping their site this week.

Love this textured red ombre sweater - perfect with jeans or leggings.

 This bib necklace is everything.

This easy silhouette is beautiful in hair-calf (actually I already bought this one)!!

The color of this long pleated maxi is so fresh, I love it mixed with cozy sweaters and tights for winter.

The mixed prints on this scarf are great, and so is the new triangle shape!

I guess picks like these mean I need to take another trip down to the store and check these out in person!

Shop For The Cure Event @ Theory

On Thursday night I went to a fabulous event at the Theory store on Maiden Lane, benefiting Shop for the Cure and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  Hosted by Elisabeth from Mission Closet, this event not only gave me the chance to shop the Theory store for a great cause, which I hadn't been to before, as well as see many other SF bloggers and catch up after a long week.

A gorgeous night on Maiden Lane

The bloggers shop and drink and chat.

The best part of the night was making a donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which gave me a fantastic discount at lots of great local stores like Kate Spade, Paul Smith, and Vince.  And let's forget my big purchase of the night: a new Theory cape for Fall!  I have had capes on the brain for a few weeks now, and this one was worth the wait.  Will definitely be wearing it soon when the weather is cooler!
