Highlights from Cannes

Last week I was delighted each day by seeing looks from the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.  I couldn't wait to share some of my favorites.  I was wowed by some very inventive dresses and risk-taking colors.  And of course I loved reading about the new films that premiered so that I can check them out once released here.  Here are some looks from Cannes that really impressed me.

Milla Jovovich in Atelier Versace - I love this unique silhouette.

I love this menswear tux look on Liya Kebede, by Roberto Cavalli.

Berenice Bejo is gorgeous in this mixed-print Giambattista Valli.

This Prabal Gurung look on Diane Kruger may be my favorite of all!  And those shoes...

I love this LWD on Kirsten Dunst by Dolce & Gabbana.

Jessica Chastain continues impressing on the red carpet with this nude Gucci gown.  Love her!

Jennifer Connelly and Naomi Watts look ready to party in these Gucci dresses.

Lastly, I love this bold yellow Atelier Versace gown on Frieda Pinto.

Steven Alan Opening Party

I had a fabulous time on Wednesday night, complete with cocktails, shoes, new clothes, and friends at the Steven Alan Dossier Launch Party.  In case you haven't heard, the new shop opened last Thursday and is the second location here in San Francisco (there's also one in Hayes Valley).  The store is a beautiful space, with lots of room for the fabulous clothes.  As soon as I walked in, I immediately saw things I wanted to try on.  It may have been a record: only 8 minutes and I was in the dressing room!  Here are some pics of the new store.

 Clare Vivier!!

 Very unique jewelry

 St Germain cocktails... yum.

 Where the shoes live

I came home with a great halter top and a shell-printed dress, as well as a pair of grey Marais USA sandals.  I also checked out the mens side of the store, and saw a lot of great pieces that my boyfriend would like.  I can already see that Steven Alan will be a new favorite shop!

Pinspiration

I spent some time this week on Pinterest, just checking things out and getting inspired, and I loved these vintage black and white images of fashion icons.  From Coco Chanel to Audrey Hepburn to vintage looks from the likes of Dior, they all had their own way of inspiring me.  I couldn't get enough of them and wanted to share!

Friday's Favorite Look 5.11

One more Met Gala look for this week... I couldn't go without mentioning this fantastic yellow dress by Versace, worn by January Jones.  There were a lot of brights this year which I loved, and this color looks beautiful with the metallic details on this dress.  I also love the peplum detail at the hip... very on trend right now.  Happy Friday everyone!!

Behind the Scenes: The Met Gala

After yesterday's post from the red carpet, I had to feature these gorgeous pictures from Vogue and their behind-the-scenes party.  I love the insider look of them, and the way the designers are mingling with everyone else.  Sigh... if only I was there!

Orange on the Red Carpet

The Met Gala is one of the fashion events of the year, and this year, the many celebrities and fashion elite that attended did not disappoint.  Right away I was excited to notice that many people wore orange - my go-to color!  Here are some of my favorites.

 Kristen Bell in Tommy Hilfiger

 Kristen Wiig in Stella McCartney

Ginnifer Goodwin in custom Monique Lhullier

Katharine McPhee in Elie Saab

I also loved all the yellow and metallics I saw on the red carpet.  Way to go bold, ladies!  Special mention to this gorgeous look on Hilary Swank - stunning!!  Coming tomorrow, some fabulous behind-the-scenes pics from Vogue.  Stay tuned...

Dots, Dots, and More Dots

Dots are a great print to update your wardrobe and a nice break from all those stripes stripes stripes.  I love these looks from the current Madewell collection - all outfitted around dots.  More than just the clothes, I love the spirit and cheeky energy... they feel like fun.  I think I might need more dots in my wardrobe...
